Privacy policy

The short version: PrivateSteps collects nothing and sends nothing. It can't; it has no internet permission.

Effective date: 2026-10-20. Published by Grisham Goldman Enterprises, LLC.

What the app collects

Nothing. PrivateSteps has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no crash reporting. It does not request the Android internet permission, so it has no way to transmit data.

Where your data lives

Step counts, goals (and the history of your goal changes), settings, any blood sugar, weight, cholesterol and water numbers you choose to enter, your reminder times, and any medication list you choose to write are stored in a private database on your phone. Nothing is deleted automatically. Uninstalling the app, tapping Delete older data or tapping Erase all my data deletes them. These numbers never leave your phone: the app has no internet permission.

Android backup (optional, off by default)

If you turn on Include in Android backup, your steps and goals are included in your phone's normal Android backup. That backup is performed by Android and your phone's backup provider (usually Google), under their terms, not by PrivateSteps. Turn the switch off to stop new backups; delete existing copies in Settings › Google › Backup.

Export files

When you export, the CSV file is written only to the location you pick in Android's save dialog. What you do with it afterwards is up to you.

Permissions

Physical activity — to read the phone's step counter. Notifications — to show the ongoing count that Android requires for background counting. Both are used only for those purposes.

Purchases

The yearly subscription and its 7-day free trial are handled by the Google Play app on your phone. Google processes the payment and keeps the purchase record under Google's own privacy policy; PrivateSteps only learns whether a subscription is active and when it started or renews, and receives no personal information. The renewal reminders are set on your phone and are not sent anywhere.

This website

privatesteps.com is a static site. It sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embeds. The only measurement is Cloudflare Web Analytics, switched on at the hosting level: it is cookieless, uses no fingerprinting, and collects no personal data; it counts page views in aggregate. Cloudflare, our host, may also keep standard server logs for security.

Children

The app is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new effective date.
